Question: Is this an open world game?

Answer: Assassin's creed as a series is one of the best looking open world games you can buy/rent, the whole series is free roam with the exception of a few points in the game where you have to complete certain missions, if your new to the series i recommend starting with a.c. 2 the graphics and story are (IMO) the best the series has to offer with the latest few games offering more in the way of game-play and the advancement of the story's "truth" which if you haven't played assassin's creed at all you may ,miss out on if you jump in on the 4th installment.To answer your question yes, all the games in the assassin's creed series have open world play, not to the extent of gta but closer that a lot of other action games available.
