If you decide to keep a game, are you supposed to return that game and wait for gamefly to send you another?

If you wish to keep the game, all you have to do is log into your account, view your 'Game Q' list and then select 'Keep' next to whatever game you wish to keep/buy. Please keep in mind that you will have to fill out a little bit of information and confirm the purchase before it's official. After you have completed all of this, you should receive the original game case and instructions within 3-5 days. Personally I love the option to let you keep a game as Gamefly offers great deals for long time customers which is much more affordable than purchasing out right from a brick and mortar store.

While all of the games listed by those who previously posted are great, I personally love Borderlands. Although you cannot customize your character to the extent to which Oblivion and Fallout allow you, Borderlands has multiplayer capabilities which makes the game very entertaining!

Generally speaking if I place a game in the mail, it usually takes about 3-4 days until I receive notice that it has been returned. I assume that the wait time may be different for others depending on your location (rural, city, etc.).

From my understanding there are no joining fees however you would still be required to pay the monthly subscription fee. I have a few friends that canceled for a few months and rejoined, so it should not be a problem. Hope this helps!

If i cancel and send the game in the day before my trial period ends do i get charged?

From my understanding, the game must be received before the next billing period otherwise you'll be charged a pro-rated fee. You may want to call customer service or e-mail Gamefly just to be on the safe side.

I would say that once Gamefly has received your returned game, you should receive a new game in about 3-4 days. Keep in mind this is just an estimate and delivery time is more than likely different if you live in more rural areas.

Depends on how ripped it is. If you're worried about it ripping more and coming loose when shipping back to Gamefly, I'd recommend login into your account info and requesting that a new mailer be sent to you.

It depends on the type of plan you have. If you have the one game plan, you'll only receive a new game once you've placed the old game in the mail. You may notice that the mailers have bar codes which allow distribution centers to check them back in, in a timely manner which can expedite the process of getting a new game to you. Obviously if you have the two game plan and only have one game, they will send you the second game as soon as you have specified what games you are interested in (permitting that they are in stock).
