Some of them do fail, but some of them turn out to be more amazing than the first game ever could be. The shining example in my mind is Gears of War 2. The representative of that game claimed it would be "Bigger, better, more badass." It certainly did do just that.
This may sound weird, but I'm going with Super Metroid. The final battle with the mother brain. The part right before Samus is toast when the baby metroid she befriended shows up to save her life. Came out of nowhere and flipped my brother and I totally out. Coolest surprise ever!
Without a doubt my friend! It seems to me that nobody has placed their focus on AI since Halo's beginning. Even amazing titles like Half Life has simpleton AI. The last game I played that had good AI was FEAR 2, and even then it was the same behavior as FEAR 1 (no real improvement). I hope it changes soon. But for the meantime it isnt horrible. It's just not revolutionary like Halo 1's.
I don't think so. Microsoft tried to make alternate games on its first system. It didnt work so well in my opinion. MS should just worry about being MS. The whole "me too" thing is lame. Plus its painfully embarrassing. Who wants waggle controls on a 360? Or a social second-life world like PS3? Let them do their own thing and MS do theirs.
