If they had instead offered a trial version of the online gameplay and been more open about it then they wouldn't have lost so many sales and wouldn't have to worry about making up for it. You act like I'm the only person who doesn't want to buy it now.
As for the question at hand it's my turn to give you an economics lesson. For each sale they lose or someone buys the game used, they would have to sell 6 online passes to make up for that loss. Statistically the odds are against them.
I probably lost interest because whatever link you sent was obviously bullshit. Anonymous never hacked PSN and officially denied it. So yes you're wrong and don't know what you're talking about.
And they don't mind how you feel, because their bottom dollar is much higher even without your individual purchase.
Its a simple value proposition for your investment into gamefly, the game publishers are well with in their right for doing what they are.
I think you will find that most people just simply lean away from renting these games and don't look at it like they are getting ripped off.

Yeah so by not allowing me to try out the multiplayer, which is what gives fps games replay value, I won't be buying the game. That means they lost a sale which is bad marketing. Just admit you don't know what you're talking about.

don't get me wrong when I rent games I am a leech to them as well. If you don't want to pay for a title then don't expect the features of someone who does its plain and simple.
Gamefly is different from game publishers. And yes you aren't a "real customer" if you aren't buying the game. You are a leech to them.
If I rent a game and it is good I will buy it new and support the company. I'm not going to blindly purchase something because a game company wants to scrape profits. Also your holier than thou attitude is undeserved.
A gamefly subscription doesn't entitle me to play any game I want for a flat fee? Funny, I feel like that's exactly what they say in their commercials. Are you saying I'm not a real consumer because I don't want to spend $60 on a game during a recession?
But online pass needs some changes as it punishes someone who buys the game as well by leaving features attached to a single console.
