I've enjoyed the original board game for many years, so when I heard about a DS version, I had to check it out - thankfully, I was not disappointed!
The rules options range from the original Scotland Yard rules (which favored Mr. X) to the New York Chase rules (which favor the detectives) and anywhere in between.
Each map's layout makes for different strategies, especially Berlin's pink pedestrian paths that can be accessed using any ticket and New York's ferry paths that are only accessed with one of Mr. X's black tickets!
Unfortunately, there is no WiFi, only local multiplayer, but it does have single-cart play (with only the London map available). All in all, if you like the board game, you'll enjoy the DS version.
I initially thought this game would be a great mystery/adventure game. However, to my surprise, this was an electronic version of a board game I played as a kid called (surprise!) Scotland Yard.
In the game, the player can choose to play a team of detectives attempting to catch Mr. X or play Mr. X attempting to evade the detectives. You move by chosing destinations on a street map-like grid and chosing the mode of transportation. Transport tickets are limited and, if Mr. X is not caught by the time the detectives run out of tickets, the round ends.
Since the game was not what I expected, I quickly became disinterested. Not for me.
