Ys Memories of Celceta is a fantastic addition to the Ys family of games.
The story is colorful, engaging and occasionally funny. This game is a standalone game and apart from very very minor references to the previous story line, new players to the series should have no issues at all picking this up. Take the first 10 minutes of the game with a grain of salt as it introduces you to the city you awoke in. Get passed this, and the rest is all fast paced action.
This game, like the previous Ys Seven game on psp, has Marvel Ultimate Alliance or Justice League type gameplay. You have a host of characters you can choose from for your party, each supporting a level up system and a barrage of special moves you can assign to your vita face buttons. The accessory usage is intuitive and there is a certain thrill knowing you are about to uncover a new flashy skill for your favorite character as you level up. The variations in the characters you can choose to be part of your party (changeable anytime during the game), their unlockable skills, and the story, prevent this game from being repetitive. Even after I had completed the storyline, I found myself visiting difficult areas of the open world map to unlock new skills of different characters. Plus, I love it when coins and large orbs get sucked into me anytime I kill an enemy. I also love the big "skill kill" labels that pop up as you rampage through monsters.
The graphics are decent for this game with usual cartoony/jrpgish type graphics. What this game is however is FLASHY. There is no stuttering even during some very flashy finishing moves with a horde of enemies on screen. Its beautiful to watch with lights and orbs all over the screen.
I am not a huge jrpg fan, nor am I a huge rpg fan. But I loved this game. Its quirky, in the way jrpgs are, the action is addictive and the story is fun. A solid title worth a try.

this game is pretty much having the typical jrpg plot where adol our main hero lost his memories and has to recover them. he randomly goes into this forest, comes back out and says "where am I?" and "who am i?" I like the combat and the game is similar to ys seven and that one I loved too. the characters and plot and bosses I am enjoying.
I went to gamestop and bought the special edition of the game which came with some interesting items
a travel book adol wrote
music cds of the series
and artwork of the games
