Let me start off by saying that, while good, this game was not my cup of tea. Let me explain:
I am a big guy. 6'1" and 500+ pounds, so I can't really go to a gym to do get in shape. I bought the Kinect hoping to get some exercise to help get me in to shape. I have to rely on video games to get exercise because, well, I love video games, and I hate exercising. Knowing that, I thought Your Shape: Fitness Evolved may be perfect for me. "Hey, it's a video game, with exercise! It's the best of both worlds!" It is a video game, with exercise, but it's done in a more "video conference with your personal trainer" way than I was expecting. That isn't altogether a bad thing, but it's not really what I was expecting from something that you play on a video game console.
The menu navigation is all pretty intuitive, and it's explained clearly to you anyway.
It may have been my size or my playspace, I'm not certain, but the tracking was rather wonky. My silhouette on the screen looked like it was doing the exact same movements at the exact same time as the trainer, but I was getting "out of rhythm" almost constantly and had the electronic woman yelling at me about my rhythm throughout the workout. I quickly lost interest.
So, I guess what I'm saying is: if you like the traditional exercises (squats, lunges, etc) but you want something to help you do it at home, then Your Shape: FE is probably for you. There's a wide variety of workouts and it will likely keep you interested. But if you're like me, and you'd like something a little more... non-traditional, I would suggest trying another Kinect game.
The mini games are the best for me.. Just to little to choose from.. but very right when it comes to getting control of your body.. other kinect games suck at that and i like kinect.. .. so good to have fun, but to get in really good shape.. hit the gym..
