Something Different: A Decent Party Game

With all my reviews I try and judge the game based on what it was attempting to do. Where the game lies in the overall pantheon of gaming may be relevant, but cannot be the criteria against which the game is judged.
Yoostar 2 is what I would categorize as a party type game, although solo play is certainly an option. Basically the game "green screens" your environment to work you and your friends into "famous" Hollywood scenes.
Pros: You can have fun trying to recreate these moments, or simply ad-libing new dialogue if you are clever. Done with friends (and possibly libations) this can be quite amusing. There are 80 scenes spanning many movie genres and eras, so you should be able to find one of your favorites. There are also "blank" scenes for you to play in front of (i.e. Enterprise Bridge.) Gameplay is easy and the motion controller is used only for menu navigation.
Cons: In order to place you in the scenes, the game relies entirely on successfully erasing your background in the camera shot. This is only moderately achieved. More lighting and less clutter will help, but even a well-lit, sparsely decorated room will still produce patches where your environment bleeds in. Movement on your part during the scene tends to do the same. Also the dialogue appears on screen just before you must say it, so your lines come out rushed, even when delivered correctly.
80 scenes seems like a lot. It really isn't. Unless you really want to polish your performance in a scene, save it, and share it, the replayability of the scenes, and the game overall is low. It will be good for a few hours of fun with friends one evening as a party game. It is different use for the PlayStation Move however and I really did like the concept of this game. Hopefully they can polish the mechanics and add more scenes for future titles.
