I'll start by saying I am a casual RTS fan. XCOM is definitely an enjoyable game, but if you're not a hardcore RTS fan you may find yourself pulling your hair out more than enjoying it. The game is not very forgiving, and if you don't do certain things, you're boned. I find the difficulty levels a little wacky as well; I'll admit I downgraded myself to Easy, but still found it just as frustrating as Normal. XCOM is worth giving a shot, but just be prepared for anger.

Perfect

That "different" RTS

After years of being accustomed to C&C and others that followed behind(that didnt do very well mind you) I didn't expect XCOM enemy unknown to be THIS fun and addicting.

Simple, challenging, and fun. Micro-managing your base and developements is always a plus in my books(more cames need it if it works well). There have been quite controller tossing moments in the game but cmon, a game that isn't dark souls, gears, or a big named FPS game, getting a rouse out of you is just showing how into the game you are(or really freakin annoyed at it). I've burned 3 months on this game, took a break and came back to it 4 months later and have burned a week into it.

Simply put, this is a step away from console RTS you're use to and puts hard and fun together in turn based format. I think when i rent this again, ill just buy it because i know i'll gamefly it again for a 3rd time lol.

Excellent

Perfect Upgrade to the Original

If you played and liked the original XCOM back in the day, you will likely love this game.
It's an amazing upgrade, not a sequel, so you don't HAVE to know the original to like it.
The turn based action requires a sound strategy, rather than reflexes, to succeed. If you try to just run headfirst into battle, you won't survive, so sit back and figure out your best move.
This game isn't for everyone, but for those into this genre of game, you'll love it.
