The decision to change this back into a slow-moving-top-down action-adventure/turn-based-RPG might have appeased some long-time fans, but it's going to hurt console sales on this title. The controls (in the demo at least) are stiff, and slow. The game play is very repetitive:
highlight cover>click A>repeat for four squad members.
Sometimes you do get to shoot stuff, but it isn't as rewarding as being a highly trained military unit vs some scrawny grey aliens should be. Battles are (thankfully) short-lived, and consist of your squad one at a time poking out from cover, and taking a shot. The shot hitting is based on statistics like distance, angle, weapon etc.. Meaning combat goes something like:
Right trigger>A>switch squad member>repeat
Instead of being a fun console-update what we get (thanks presumably to PC players) is a game that screams for a mouse and doesn't get one.
