IGN Preview of Worms: Battle Island
The title takes place on a secret island base and your goal, as always, is to control battalions of worms and send them to war against other infantry units, using all the weapons you can find to defeat the enemy. The action is turn-based -- you fire off a round and then the opposition return the favor. The last man standing wins. This time around, though, you'll be able to create your own weapons using the technology crates you amass from the single-player campaigns.
Battle Islands boasts new weapons like the flare and the EMP grenade -- the latter of which can undoubtedly be used skillfully to render high-tech weapons temporarily obsolete. In addition, the project includes all the dozens of weapons you've come to expect from the franchise.
Team 17 says that you'll be able to play with or without motion controls depending on your preference. If you don't want to waggle, you simply turn the remote on its side and use the classic setup.
Meanwhile, the developer confirms that you can "play multiplayer with your friends via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection," but thus far, specifics with regard to the online play are still incoming. We'll update the story as details become available.
While you wait, check out the trailer and screens.
