Word Jong is probably one of the better "word puzzle" games for the DS. It doesn't dumb down word games or think that you must be 6 years old if you're playing a video game.
Game play is a mix of Scrabble and solitaire. (I don't care what the name denotes or the other reviews state, there's barely any Mahjong references here other than the letters are on tiles and you can't use one unless it's clear.) The object is to create words with the tiles available. You have to clear them all to win. It's more fun than it sounds.
For a nice bonus, you get a new puzzle every day where you can try to beat the score of an animal that's predetermined. It's fun, and you can jump around on the calendar to try to beat as many animals as you want.
For fun, there's a bonus system that's a lot like the XBOX 360 awards system. Earn butterflies for achieving milestones (win 7 games, etc.).
The vocabulary is a little weird, but better than most.
My biggest complaint is that there's no HINT system. Also, the UNDO button is touchy. Overall, it's fun but not the greatest game out there.
Really enjoying this game, although when it comes to the puzzle of the day I'd love to be able to beat a high score just once. Overall the instructions are pretty easy and the game isn't one where I get bored easily. I do get irked when I can't use all the tiles and have to play again and devise different words to avoid using a bomb at the end. I wish this was available for purchase via GameFly's used game policy as I would consider keeping it.
Excellent for scrabble players and others who like to manipulate words. You have to use strategy to make use of the "difficult" letters while not ending up with a bunch of vowels that don't make a word either. I liked it but it requires one to work harder than you might like to in a game. I guess that depends on the person.
