Mediocre "Music"

When I first heard about Wii Music, I thought it was a stupid idea. A music game with no.... game? But when I got more detail on it, it actually seemed like it could be sorta... okay. My first thought was correct. I was very, VERY annoyed with the lengthly tutorial that you couldn't skip at all. It was made worse by the fact that my copy of the game didn't respond to the Violin control-hold down the button, it plays a chord. Move the remote... it makes no difference. That, of course, might just be my Wii, but I dunno. Anyway, after I got past the tutorial, I was devastated to find that the main part of the game, Jam Sessions, starts you off with... five songs. Four of which are traditional, such as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" or "Do-Re-Mi". The only "popular" song was... "Daydream Believer"? What the fudge is... oh, it's a sixties song. That explains it. So I get in, choose from the unnecessarily large selection of instruments, and start jamming. Uh, no vocals? That's odd, but since i'd never heard the song before I didn't mind. What at first seemed annoying and pointless, though, turned out to be actually sorta enjoyable. SORTA. The minigames are pretty fun, and they help you add more songs ("Legend of Zelda" is a personal favorite). The Jam Session is pretty much useless without a second player. I also especially enjoy designing jackets for my videos and watching them-the camerawork is sweeeeet. While Wii Music is a nice game to play on the side, it's not worth 50 bucks and several hours to unlock the songs.
