IGN Preview of White Knight Chronicles 2
White Knight Chronicles II has many exciting new equipment options for you to destroy enemies with. There are over 400 new weapons added to the already extensive list of items from the first game, and many of the weapons have a totally unique look. Some of the more advanced weapons now require binding three materials, instead of two, to create a new attribute called "Killer". Weapons can have attributes like Undead Killer, Gigas Killer, and more, which do exceptional damage to those types of enemies. Below is just a taste of a few of the new weapons you will see in White Knight Chronicles II.
Swords includes single handed swords, knives, and single handed axes. These weapons are light weight and good at attacking the enemies fast and frequently. Knives do less damage than the other two weapons in this group but many of the knives will increase your magic attack and agility. Shield can be equipped in the other hand, so Sword works well for both offense and defense. You could play as a tank when you use the skill "Provoke" that can be used only with Shield, along with the skill "Guardian Stance" that raises defense and lowers Attack.
Long swords includes two handed swords and katanas. These weapons are much heavier than their short sword counterpart and do much more damage to account for their weight, especially when used in combination with the skills like "Warrior's Aura" or "Demon's Aura".
The Axe category includes two handed axes and hammers. Axes are the power hitters and do amazing damage but are the slowest and heaviest weapons. There are powerful skills available for axes, and they are primarily focused on Strike attack. For example, a skill called "+Aftermath" is an area Strike attack and can damage all nearby enemies.
When spears are equipped in combination with shields and heavy armor, they become a formidable tank against any enemy. They are able to increase their defense and many of the spears have secondary bonuses to increase the character's HP.
Bows are a versatile weapon class that can attack enemies from afar. Many skills have range attacks and do status damage. They are a great weapon to support allies. Many skills for bows are mainly thrust types of attacks, and there is a good selection of skills that have four attributes; Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. It's recommended to restore your allies' HP or MP with the new skills, such as "Healer's Hymn" and "Spirit's Hymn", and focus on backing up your allies.
Staves have low attack power themselves but increases MP and magic. Theyhave a wide variety of support skills that increases the players casting abilities. "Blessing" type of skills, that can restore HP or MP to all nearby allies, are a must-have.
