So much hype for such a mediocre game

This game isn't really bad at all, it's just not that good... At all. The story line is pretty bland and there are no interesting characters that are there to at least keep you entertained while playing through the story.

The free roam in this game is like a bad version of GTA V. There are a few things to do around that are kinda fun, but nothing worth really mentioning.

The graphics were a big let down. Usually, I don't really care about graphics, but when a company promises me some high quality eye candy I wanna see it! This game did not bring the eye candy I was promised.

The driving is just awful. At first I thought that it was just different and I was just used to the way GTA V drove. Not the case. The driving is probably the worst thing about this game.

The side missions are horrible. It's just the same thing over and over and over and over. It can be summed up in just a few words. look at your phone, steal a car, drive somewhere. That's it. Pretty much every side mission has driving, which wouldn't be a problem if the driving didn't suck.

It sucks to say this but, go ahead and skip this game. It's not really worth playing. I really wish I could like this game. It looked so good when they were showing it off at E3 and other events. But, I don't. It's not fun.

Tedious, Repetitive, Disappointment

I'm 70% through watchdogs, but the story is so bad that I will probably not complete it due to lack of engagement/interest and the fact that I'm tired of doing the same gameplay design over and over and over again. Many of the main missions follow the similar objective flow of the side missions making the game so repetitive its hard to see the variety you would find in most open world games. Such a failure in overall gameplay and level design is unacceptable in a AAA company like Ubi. I ran through all the side missions and collected 90% of the collectables because I couldn't stand the lack of quality in storytelling (it's really bad). The whole experience of clearing the side stuff though turned out to be daunting and felt more like an endurance race to the finish than a fun ride to enjoy. The script is corny and cliche with no humor, the story is driven by shallow characters and events with no real substance.

Watchdogs was a much anticipated game for me since the bait and switch trailer from E3. I say bait and switch because I feel this game was marketed as a new and fresh take on the open world genre with innovative mechanics and creative concepts.
Unfortunately Watchdogs fails to deliver the innovative mechanics one would expect from a complex concept like "hacking". Its a great idea that sells the game until the moment you pull the trigger of a gun. The "OPTION" concept that Ubi put out there for players to have different experiences depending on their play style (guns blazing or stealthy hacker) is a major failure due to the games weak level design and uninspired AI. The tedious and repetitive nature of the dozen or so objectives and level designs utilized all throughout the game proves one point, leave the open world genre to those who know how to do it. This is not a GTA revamp, it is more like a GTA mockery. This title utilizes concepts from quite a few games and shames them all with its lack of delivery and poor execution.

Don't Believe the Hype

I've heard about this game even months before the Playstation 4 was ever released, it has been teased along all this time as a "game changer" type of video game. I really expected this to break barriers and go in a whole new direction, but was dissapointed with a bland and even obnoxious first person shooter. Although the game LOOKS gorgeous, I found myself getting frustrated after sneaking around and playing a level for 20 minutes then dying and starting ALL OVER numerous times. The only innovation here was the ability to "hack" into cameras for new angles, then opening a door you originally couldn't see which for me was more annoying than progressive. I eventually started to like it but was too aggrevated with doing missions 10-15 times because of ONE mistake I'd made....just a big dissapointment after over a YEAR of hype!!!!
