Bad

Exact-o-same-a-thon (But Worse!)

You heard it, people. This game is /exactly the same/ as Warriors Orochi. Which is, of course, exactly the same as every other Warriors game Koei has ever released, but considering I own at least 6 of them on various media, I'm hardly one to complain about sameness.

No, the big distinction here is that not only is it exactly the same, it's also patently /worse/. How might that be, you ask?

Bullet time.

This isn't a feature you missed about this game, it's not a quality that's printed on the box or featured in the manual. This game has Bullet Time, and it happens approximately /ever single time/ you see "lots of dudes" on the screen.

For those of you paying attention, "Lots of dudes" is pretty much the Warrior's series only game play mechanic.

The game bogs down like some sort of hyper-generating peat often, frequently, and constantly. I'm aware that slow-down and frame-rate issues aren't exactly a /new thing/ in the Warriors games, but this game has just too much to contend with, ESPECIALLY for being on the xbox 360. You know what game DIDN'T have any slow-down? Warriors Orochi. On the /PS2/.

Skip this one. It sucks.

I thought I could just cut and paste this review without even playing it, but that isn't quite fair. You know what this game is about: hack and slash fighting against long odds with an ancient Chinese backdrop. There have been a few changes. I think the difficulty has been reduced for this chapter. There seems to be less map reuse (the story lines only go through chi bi once!) but the maps are still familiar, having been borrowed from previous games. There is a dream mode which requires some unlocking. Most of the characters, levels, treasures, 4th weapons, etc.. unlock more easily with one exception.
Treasures are new this time around. They can be used to further enhance weapons, but I found the creation method clumsy. There are also proficiency levels. They don't seem to do anything but are used as triggers to open some dream levels. Ironically, for game completion, you will find yourself farming proficiency levels on easy boards that require little skill. Also new, you will keep xp and proficiency from a failed battle so don't hesitate to attempt hard missions.
About the exception; one dream level requires ~2730 total levels of proficiency. As you average about ~5 levels per battle and there are ~68 total battles, you will play every battle at least 9 times. It's too much just to unlock that one battle. For achievement point chasers, I think this one battle will end up netting you ~260pts.
My rating would be higher if there were not so many similar games in the series. On an odd note, neither orochi warriors games would install and play from my harddrive. I've not had issues with any other game.

I thought I would give this a try but if you played part 1 or any Dynasty series games.....you have already played this game.

Exact same characters......exact same moves......same bad camera.......same no Mushu fill........same button masher......not worth your time.
