Good wrestling......boring between matches

The wrestling itself is fine in this game, but the single player mode tries to simulate a wrestling career by forcing the player to workout at the gym between episodes of whichever brand (ECW, Smackdown, or Raw) the player's character works for. You do this in order to build up the wrestler's stats. It's not bad the first couple times, but the workouts consist of choosing one of 4 minigames that hone a certain skill; and it takes a long time to reach the next level for that skill. In other words, if you want to build up your speed, you have to do a jump rope minigame many, many times. Not only that, but you can only do one minigame per day. Then you have your character go to sleep, progress to the next day, and do it all over again.
This system of levelling up really put a damper on the whole experience for me...I put a total of about 5 hours into the story, then I just simply didn't feel like finishing the game.
I have yet to try one of the console wrestling games, but I would hope they're more exciting than this!
