WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 for Xbox 360 Reviews by Gamers

As a huge fan of all the previous Smackdown VS Raw games that have came out over the past years, I eagerly awaited for the release date of the new Smackdown VS Raw 2009, and in the end I was sorely disapointed. The graphics are excellent by all means, but the game itself didn't hold my attention at all. This could just be a matter of opinion, but as a gamer, and especially for the Smackdown VS Raw games I love to create my own character and use him/her as my main character in the storylines, unfortunately you are not allowed to do this on Smackdown VS Raw 2009. You can play in a career mode, but there are no cut scenes or storylines unless you use a few of the actual superstars themselves like John Cena, Batista, Triple H and a few others. If I had to guess, which I am, they didn't spend alot of time on this particular game at all, it seems as if the game was rushed through development so that it could hit the game shelves and start raking in the profits from it. I literally played the game for an hour and never put it back in. It's a shame to because they had a few new options in the create menu. I loved the fact that you could create your own finishing manuever, but like I said the game itself was just not up to par. Lets cross our fingers and hope that Smackdown VS Raw 2010 actually takes gamers opinions and ideas into perspective.

I wasn't expecting much out of this game and it sure did deliver. If you like having a very limited move set, lame graphics, and boring and repetive game play, go ahead and get this because this game is for you.

Take out the lame commentary, that has been the same for the last 4 or 5 games, and bring back an extensive move set. Also, bring back the ability to do 16 moves from a standing grapple instead of having 10. I'm glad they took out the fighting styles from the last game, but this game still sucks. It also sucks that the legends are missing because the current roster is pretty bad. The Road to Wrestlemania stories are lame and it is obvious that the developers don't care anymore. They know that people will buy this junk just because it's a WWE game.

WWE games have been horrible since they started making Smackdown vs Raw and they just seem to get worse with each one they make. I long for the days of WWF Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy. These were games that were fun to play with your friends and I still do. I also long for games like Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain. That was fun for playing alone and you could control the destinies of your favorite wrestlers and is another game that I still play. I really don't understand how these games are so popular.
