This game is fairly good for a portable version of SvR. While it only has one vs one play, it can still be fun. The wrestlers look good and have their entrances done well. You even get the Titantron during the entrance, although it is an abbreviated version of it.
Controls are done with a combination of stylus and D-Pad movements this year. You are free to move about the ring with the D-Pad and can go outside the ring also. To strike the opponent, you simply tap on the bottom screen. Grapples are done by drawing circles to initiate the hold, and then a direction is used on the D-Pad to tell it the specific grapple.
More weapons are included this year as far as what can be used at a time. There can be four weapons at a time in a hardcore match and they can be used more than once, as last years version had.
Create-a-Wrestler is included this year and is fairly decent. While not as robust as the console version, there are a number of choices to select from, and there are two slots to save the CAW in. The downside to CAW is that you have to select from entrances that already exist for the other wrestlers, so the entrances cannot be unique.
With more match types, CAW, and a better control scheme compared to last years version, this is a step in the right direction for wrestling on the DS. I hope they can further develop what they did this year to improve the next installment of this game.
It is good, but not quite great.
