Does not feel like a console hand me down.

When I picked up SmackDown vs. Raw 2006 last year I was disappointed. I had the console version on the PS2 and I was surprised at how much they added, but then how much they took away from the PSP port. It was basically a hand-me-down.
Fast forward to 2007, a new game. An almost new game, the only that didn't change was the Yuke's engine. The controls are still crisp and very responsive and smart and very interactive almost like the mini-games from God of War. They also revamped the ladder match controls and the table match controls to make it play more efficiently and it worked. The resolution is sharp enough and although the polygons cut here and there and the loading screens are long, it's not such a big problem that it detracts from the gameplay. The only thing missing is the sweat factor from the Xbox 360 version.
All in all what you're looking at is a very stand alone game that is similar to its console cousins but looks pretty sexy by itself. You can pick it up and like me finish season mode(which is pretty well done) in one sitting and then try the GM Mode which is still pretty smart but still needs a little work considering they added storyline rivalries(not present in 2006), they just need to add a better way to diversify how the rivalry starts and a great way to end it other than a bloody (lleh) in a cell match for the title that does not even reflect what my imagination is cooking up for the superstars.
