It is truly a good game, but the depth is not there.Do not get me wrong. The story and the fighting style is great. But it depends on who you choose especially when fighting online. It is like every character is not really even. In some ways they are but when it comes to do good moves, it differs just like other fighting games, but does not do a great deal of damage. After experience a person can figure it out. This game is combination of other Japanese fighting games and they did a pretty good job at it. The fighting experience is great but is not close to those great fighting games such as Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Tekken and Soul Calibur.
This series has been up on a pedestal for many fighter junkies for a long time and its a shame the next generation is gonna lose alot of those fans. This game was very dissapointing, not because its a bad game, but because it failed to live up to itself. The fighting is overcomplicated and , to me, never brings a hard hitting feel that i look for in fighters. Online is broken and a joke, although it is probably the game's best feature. DOA is clearly superior in playability, online functions, and combat system wise. I would even recommend Def Jam Icon over Virtua 5. Hopefully Virtua 6 get the series back on track but how long that will be is anyone's guess.
