Very Good

This ain't no boxing sim!

Even though there are some minor annoyances I have with this game, I found this title to be very satisfying.

There are a great number of control options (I chose swing mode 2). A tutorial is provided for each option for your convenience.

The story mode is pretty fun. My wife and I had fun breaking a sweat trying to serve beatdowns. Heck, my wife even won a match (by decision, of course). I think that's the main thing, fun. You can try to fight in a technical manner like a boxing sim, but I found it much more fun trying duck the opponents punches to get in close and unloading a barrage of combinations.

My main gripe is in the storytelling. Most of the blame could be placed on the voice acting. I would have preferred to hear the original japanese voices with subtitles (any good game originating from japan should have this option especially if it was based on a comicbook). Anyhow, I'll probably end up buying this title after this rental based on the amount of enjoyment I received. Just make sure you go through the tutorial with each of the different control options and learn the special moves.

Good but can be better.

This game with the previews and interviews looked really good but the main question was if the controls can capture the actual swings or movements of the person?

Pros: Nice visual for a the overall look because it matches the anime very well.

Story goes farther then the actual anime series.

Up to 25 characters.

Special moves are just like the anime.

Cons: Voice dubbing is horrible.

Announcer is annoying and repetitive.

Even with 4-5 control schemes it still not good or perfect enough.

You can win but still lose because story is only one directional.

Overall: Good game to rent and duke it out with friends. However not a very game by yourself because it's fairly easy even on hard.

If your a fan of the "Hajime no ippo" then you'll be more into the game but if not then it's not worth buying.

The sequel might be better!
I had hopes for this one and in return I wasted a Q slot. The controls are horrible (you cant move the character) when usining it like Wii Sports. The camera has issues, and the graphics are ok at best and the story is short. I returned it the same day I got it! Wait for EA to bring Fight Night Round 3 (or 4).
