This ain't no boxing sim!

Even though there are some minor annoyances I have with this game, I found this title to be very satisfying.
There are a great number of control options (I chose swing mode 2). A tutorial is provided for each option for your convenience.
The story mode is pretty fun. My wife and I had fun breaking a sweat trying to serve beatdowns. Heck, my wife even won a match (by decision, of course). I think that's the main thing, fun. You can try to fight in a technical manner like a boxing sim, but I found it much more fun trying duck the opponents punches to get in close and unloading a barrage of combinations.
My main gripe is in the storytelling. Most of the blame could be placed on the voice acting. I would have preferred to hear the original japanese voices with subtitles (any good game originating from japan should have this option especially if it was based on a comicbook). Anyhow, I'll probably end up buying this title after this rental based on the amount of enjoyment I received. Just make sure you go through the tutorial with each of the different control options and learn the special moves.
