This game is first and foremost an rpg. The game is broke up into quests, and more quests can be obtained through guilds. To add to the fun most items are random, so you never no when you might get a short sword with something like poison from enemy drops. The class system is nice, you can use 1 main class, and 2 sub classes. in typical Vahalla formula the most fun is had when you do not follow the storyline, but have your own fun doing random quests and killing enemies in zones.
This game is first and foremost broken.. If you want to be an archer you will have a lot of trouble getting into fights with enemies that roam the field... They won't engage you when you make contact with them... You have to attack them while moving into them to trigger combat.. Most every class can do this except the ranged combat class... This forces your main character into a role of either a spell caster or a warrior with other members of your team being the archers... But wait there is more! Some armor pieces won't actually show up on your character model, so you don't appear to have anything on but in reality you do.. Leather pants won't show up on your character model which is weird(it breaks the immersion factor almost completely... Enemies are on a predetermined track in the field which actually looks fake and a little strange... Some race selections aren't even available even though they do make an appearance early on in the game(like beasts), and another race called nightmares(which are dark elves), and we still can't start as a machine for the main character either which is lame..
To unlock them in a normal Valhalla knights game you have to do a quest related to those specific races... In this game you have to grope women, and some of the women look like small girls,( and one of them is actually a guy) which is sick and dirty! Groping women done via touch screen and you won't want ANYONE watching you play this game when that happens, because you will embarrass yourself... WHAT WAS XSEED THINKING?!?!
Between the glitches and the unnecessary groping of women XSEED has ruined this game, so I doubt if I will ever bring myself to buying it.... Games like this are the reason we have GAMEFLY.. Try before you buy! What is our game industry coming to?????
gamers (100%) found this review helpful
-Great character creation (there aren't a million options, but what you have to choose from are all great)
-Plenty of characters to recruit (and more than one way to recruit them)
-Interesting battle mechanics (learn cross skills, characters have predetermined personas which reflect how they fight, etc)
-Poor presentation (the opening sequence you play through makes you feel like real prison would be more fun than playing this game)
-Battle animations (very generic looking attacks make battles uninteresting. I've seen better on PS1)
-Poor overall story portrayal (every other line that comes out of a character is either cliche or cheesy. It almost becomes an impulse to skip conversations. I almost felt bad for my "X" button after a while)
Worst Con of All:
Entering new rooms,
Equipping/unequipping weapons and armor,
Speaking to people,
Picking up items/opening chests and such
...may or will cause loading times. Spanning from 1 minute to 3 seconds each. It gets to a point where you feel like you're spending more time loading godknowswhat vs actually playing through the game.
I really tried to like this game, but in the end, it was half-as__d. It had plenty of potential to bring a legit JRPG to the Vita, but just as many flaws.
