One word for this game: innovative. From the creators of Soul Calibur and Tekken, comes Urban Reign. The storyline goes a person named KG has been kidnapped by a mysterious gang. A rival gang assumes that your gang has kidnapped them and has waged war. You, Brad Hawk, are a nobody that has no past but has vast fighting experience. I will not spoil the rest, but all i can say is that this is just more than a gang war.
The gameplay is very simplistic with easy to understand button configurations. The moves are very fluid like and very innovative. If you are outnumbered 2 to 1 with the press of the triangle button you can take both players down. Also, team up with a partner for some double team action. Each partner you pair up with has a different fighting style (boxing, tae kwan do, wrestling, etc.) so strategy is key. The story has 100 missions with plenty of unlockables. Other modes are free mode where you can relive a mission as a different character and be ranked on your performance. The other mode is challenge where it is a survival match. You can choose from 10 to 100 matches. The multiplayer is not bad with four players and the option of setting the rules (no weapons/weapons, location, maxing out their stats). Overall, the gameplay is very picturesque. Unfortunately, there are some flaws to this game.
As you are progressing in the story mode, you feel like you are doing the same moves at the same places. Another flaw is sometimes the move you perform is not the move the player performs. Eventually, you would get bored of the game once you have beaten story mode.
In a nutshell, Urban Reign receives an eight because of its innovative style of gameplay.
This is a game if you are looking for something different and want to kill time.
