Untold Legends: Been Told Before

Let me start off by saying what an improvement Sony Online Entertainment has made in the second title of Untold Legends for the PSP. By PSP standards the graphics are great. The sound is good, and the over all game play (especially the fighting) is drastically improved. You don't find yourself just mashing out on the X button as much in this one as the previous installment but the hack n' slash vibe is still the basis of the game. The new magic upgrades are awesome. Building up your character is pretty much like any RPG/ hack n' slash. But when it's all said and done it is just another dungeon crawler. Now don't get me wrong, I love hack n' slash games as much as anybody, but that's all this game really is. And it is a really good one at that. Unfortunately there is not much innovation as far as this genre goes. If you are looking for a great hack n' slash then look no farther, just don't expect to be blown away.

Above average game with a non-compelling story!

NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON SOLO PLAY ONLY!

Untold Legends: The Warriors Code overall is an above average game with a non-compelling story line.

The look and feel of this game is similar to "Dark Alliance" and "Champions of Norrath" series, minus the in-game movie transitions, the variety of weapons that are available for the various character types, and the selectable difficulty level.

PROS:
1. Easy to play.
2. Many character types to choose from.

CONS:
1. No difficulty setting.
2. Limited weapons available for each character.
3. No in-game movies transitions.
4. Limited replay value when playing solo.
5. Non-compelling storyline.
6. Glitch? When equipping your character with Runes, you lose the Rune your character is currently equipped with when you replace it with one in your inventory.
7. Glitch? The game indicates your "Inventory is too Heavy" when you still have quite-a-bit of carry capacity still available. For me it occurred many times when I was 100lbs short of my full carrying capacity.

FINAL WORD:
If you are looking for a PSP RPG game just to play, this will fit the bill. If you want something more you may want try the multiplayer feature or look elsewhere.

More of the same thing but with better load times

There is nothing new here. If you enjoyed the first Untold Legends you'll like this one. If you hated the load times on the first UT, you'll be pleased to find out they are cut in half (anecdotally, I performed no actual timing). This is a pretty generic dungeon crawl, it works very well for on the go gaming (where it would be pretty tiresome on the console).
