I have to say that I originally downloaded the demo for this game with no high-expectations at all. I had seen the screen shots, and they looked great, but we have all seen games that looked great in the screen shots and played like dung. As a matter of fact, most games have great screen shots... but only the select few actually go on to be really great games.
This game is the exception to the rule.
Great Graphics – This game has some of the best lighting I have seen to date on ANY system. The sun peers through the trees when you are in the jungle, and the flashlights create amazing ambiance when you are underground. The textures and character animations add to the overall effect for the best looking game on the PS3 IMHO.
Gameplay - The controls seem to move your character seamlessly through the areas. From running and climbing in the jungle, to diving behind cover while fighting enemies, you'll forget that you are pushing buttons and feel like you are actually immersed in the game... this is what game control should feel like.
Story - I have to say that I loved every bit of the story, with the twists coming from nowhere right until the end. The writers did a great job, and I can't wait to follow these characters on their future adventures. ( I hope they make sequels) Sure they are somewhat stereotypical, The strong woman Journalist, the bumbling adventurer (Indiana?) and the list of baddies. But the formula really works in this case, creating a game that is as fun to watch as it is to play.
Replay Value - With lots of hidden treasure to find, and unlockable rewards, I plan on playing this one at least two or three more times. Though the story is linear, it is never the same game twice, as the enemy AI does a good job of putting you into bad situations.
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune may not go down in history as a groundbreaking, system-selling, hyped-up uber title.
But if you want a great game with a great story, then don't hesitate,
RENT THIS GAME!
