Another high quality adventure but this time around I'm not blinded by all the flash so it's easier to notice the game's flaws. Uncharted 2 had completely blown me away when I played it a couple years back but I expected a little more refining with the 3rd instalment. I'm not talking story or visuals, those are top notch but the controls are still very imprecise and I know they could do better. gunplay is what is most lacking as aiming is often frustrating. there are plenty of shooters out there that have mastered the thumb sticks. This game could have at least threw in some level of aim assistance. I've also had my share of frivilous jumping deaths because of touchy controls or miss judging a ledge. In a straight mario style platformer those are to be expected but in the uncharted series its more of a streamlined process and its generally expected that the character will succeed in each of the acrobatic stunts so its quite annoying when you leap past say a dangling chain and into a river of death. There is also the nuisance of death by camera angle when it locks into a stylish shot rather than one of functionality (usually when the character is running for his life). Also I just really hated an early chase sequence when a young Drake is attempting to evade a bunch of goons. I don't even feel the need to explain why as I believe most players will understand my sentiment as they play it. Overall I am loving this game. I'm too big of an Uncharted fan to let any of this bring me down, I just don't think this one has pulled off the perfect 10.
