This is definitely not a button masher. You have to be very strategic. If you are not good at that, do not play this game.
The game at first glance looks very good. This game has great carton like graphics with very smooth mechanics. The character list is just as amazing. I love the selection and pretty much got stuck on Deadpool the whole time.
The gameplay was the problem I had with this. As a person who does not fare very well in the fighting game world, I did not have the choice to make the game easier so I could at least see my self through the entire story mode. I could not beat it. No matter how hard I tried I could not even come close to beating it. There are certain combos that you have to master and if you are not good at that you will be dead in the water. And NEVER EVER get online because that is even worse. You will be dead within seconds.
The story line is basic. It is just a fighting game. It is pretty creative how it is set up though. Very original how you can jump from story to story trying to complete each one. This keeps you interested considering the fact that if you are not a master fighter you are going to be doing a lot of losing.
Good game overall but since it does not cater to everyone, it gets a 7 from me.

I will admit I'm not the BIGGEST Fighting game player. In fact I'm pretty much a noob but I've played other fighting games and this one is just annoying for me and not fun at all. I can't work out how to do combos and all I'm doing half the time is wildly mashing buttons and doing super moves by accident. I can't even figure out half the commands (like freaking BLOCKING) even looking at the manual and the touch screen version wasn't working when I tried it. The training option is a joke and pointless as far as I can tell since it donesn't explain comands and even the missions where you can practice each combo move for ALL the different characters doesn't provide a good explanation on how to do it. I've played DBZ Boudikai which also uses combo moves using certain directional inputs and as a PS2 game that feels 10 times easier to do than this game. Perhaps I'm just stupid but I just couldn't figure it out. Maybe people who are used to capcom vs marvel controls will have no problem and have a great time but I have to say the game is rather unforgiving to someone completely new to the series and doesn't offer a lick of help in my opinion.
