Don't expect too much

This game sounds like an awesome fighting game, I mean what's more brutal than 2 grown men, fully trained in various forms of fighting, in a cage left with just hand to hand no weapon contact. In essence that's what this game provides, however in truth it was a huge let down. The graphics were mediocre at best, but I didn't expect much in the graphics department. The different modes were o.k., but story mode kind of plays a fast one on ya. You train for 3 yrs (close to 2 hrs of play) only fighting in 3 end of year tournaments. If you do well you get a gift from your trainer. (new outfits, tattoos etc.) then it asks if you want to save..."Heck yes I just finished a year of training and won a tourney!" So you save the game and go on, when your 3 yrs are up, you have to enter run for the title mode. You have to load your character and "oh man" your character isn't saved, just the prizes. That was enough to tick me off. The game play is decent, strictly button mashing and no real timing is needed. I won every fight in the first round, but the controls are tricky. There are no buttons mapped to the L and R buttons, and in fact you use variations of the Circle, Square, Triangle, X buttons including but not limiting to X+Triangle or O+Square, those combos would be better served mapped to the R and L buttons personally. The game is entertaining, and the music soundtrack is alright, but as big as UFC is getting, you would think they would have pushed to do the game right.
