The closest to 'new' you can get for UFC games

Which isn't a good thing. Hardcore UFC fans from the early days and all you newcomers will not be very impressed here. UFC Throwdown offers a lot of a variety of fighters from the old school (Frank Shamrock, Mark Coleman) to guys that are familiar faces for the new age (Matt Serra) Although oddly enough Randy Couture isn't in the game. Anyway, let's move onto the negative aspect of this.

For one, the matches against the computer involve a lot of luck. It is kinda like the real UFC in a way as you can't just run in their and start throwing every punch and kick possible, because they'll just get blocked. And sometimes they'll leave you vulnerable to a takedown, which is where a whole new level of madness is. Submissions can be done easily and there's no really way to get out of them (I mashed the buttons as rapidly as possible and sometimes it worked) but I don't even think that matters. If you're on top, your submission attempts can easily be reversed or they will be successful. It's dumb luck really. And if you want to do a little ground and pound you may get a lucky way out or the computer might put you in a submission. There's no way of knowing. Like I said, this game is unpredictable and you'll win a lot of things based on luck.

Create a fighter is waste. You go through three years learning moves through these really boring training challenges like (step strike your opponent three times) or (get out of a mount your back) The only fun part is the tournaments at the end of every year which you can just do with real fighters in 'Tournament Mode' anyway.

Unlocking fighters again involves a lot of patience. To get the five secret heavyweight fighters, you have to go through heavyweight mode five times. Which, believe me, is not something you want to do. And if you want to get a ref you must lose 40 times, what? Do yourself a favor and only rent this if you have absolutely nothing to queue and are a UFC fan.

Well i love the ufc and i figured for the price that they are selling it for that it would be great BUT BOY WAS I WRONG.The graphics are not the best but hey its a ps2 game what do you expect.the sound is very bad in my opinion.the gameplay is horrible i played the story game mode and it was boring from the start i kept on and finished it hoping that it had a good career mode but all you do is fight stupid matches which are really stupid because its too easy to lose its not even fun with a friend.lengh is probly the quickest game to beat.In closing this game is the worst game ive ever played if i could give it a 0 i would .My advice dont even rent it unless you want a good laugh at how bad it is .

I really like the UFC. I was hoping for a little more than what the game offered. The graphics and game play are alright but nothing to jump for joy over. After a few fights you've seen everything the game has to offer, which is really disappointing. I hope the next UFC game brings more to the table.
