As a big fan of the tried and true, violently entertaining and psychotically satisfying characters from the early installments of the franchise, I expected this to be bad.
Giving a 6 is not bad, this is an above average handheld port for the PSP.
THe characters are just as insane as before, and the action is fast paced, and pretty fun. What's lost in the haze of wishing for this to be better are jerky, and painful controls. You can get used to it, and enjoy the game for sometime, but it gets old fast as there are no new innovations to the game. Certainly the developers could have done something to make it a PSP classic, but they didn't. The car models look great and each comes with its usual strength and weaknesses. But the level design is boring and mundane, and after a while it leaves one feeling like enough is enough.
The sound and music is pretty darn good, and often rocks out, but then even that becomes just as repetitive as the game play overall.
I think it is worth owning IF you can get it used for a low price only. You Should find it in used bins for $14.99 no more. Rent it, and you'll have fun for some time.... give it a shot it doesn't suck. It just doesn't qualify as a really good PSP game. Like most PSP games this is also slightly disappointing.
