when i rented TWB, i did not know what to expect. i enjoyed twisted metal 2 but did not seem to enjoy the others as much (i can't say that about twisted metal 1 because i never played it). but after playing one level i was hooked.
first off, the game presents itself in a beautiful, dark, but still beautiful way. the character select was erie, and when i watched the bio movies i wanted to turn my head but could not stop watching it. everything is detailed, whether it be the car, the battlegrounds, or the driver, everything was top notch. if you pay attention to details you can see the weapons pop out off little compartments. or that explosions had flying shrapnel and ashes.
second, the handle was great. the controls take a little time, but once mastered you can easily navigate through the fast paced action on the screen. even the big trucks had nice handling.
third, the music is astounding. the dark and scary music sets the mood while you cruise around. but when you engage the enemy it changes to a fast paced score.
fourth, the story rocks so hard. o.k., maybe some dude busting insane prisoners out to compete for one wish is far fetched, but i like it. and the movies make you feel for the character.
when you read there little story's while the game loads it makes you want to beat the game with every person so you can get inside their head and know about their tragic past.
basically this is one of the best games for the ps2. after playing you won't help but come back for more twisted metal.
