Good Short Game

Hours of Play: 4 Hours to beat once.
Level of Difficulty: Very Easy

This game is about princess being set up for the murder of your father. The game puts you into a mansion where different people come in to capture either the bounty on your head or because they believe you should stand trial for your crime. In order to survive you are forced to kill these invaders by setting up traps which is made possible because a demon has possessed you. The demon who possessed you wants you to sacrifice souls by killing these innocent people so that he could be revived.

If that sounded confusing it is because the game is very confusing. The story makes very little sense and it seems the story is only there just as an excuse to let innocent people (as opposed to bad people) fall victim to your traps.

The trap system works well enough. There are numerous traps lying about in any room which can be activated in many ways. Unfortunately there is only 3 traps you can set yourself and they are limited to 1 floor trap, 1 ceiling trap and 1 wall trap. This feels kind of restrictive and since the game scores you on combos (how many traps you can get a person to be hit by in a row).

The game also has a terrible AI and makes the game very easy. Every single person will fall for the 3 traps you set whether they were hit by it or seen their best friend die from a second earlier. You can wait for people to walk into you trap and if you didn’t set the trap off on time you can walk right past them so they will walk through the trap area a second time.

The game works well enough graphically and in the sound department. It is indeed satisfying to see your victim getting impaled by a pendulum or get hugged by the iron maiden. Because the visual and sound works well enough the game bad AI will make the game as fun a you can make it. Setting up various trap (since they will all work) to kill your victims differently and in the most gruesome way possible.

While it is a decent upgrade from Tecmos Deception,
Trapt was pretty lacking in alot of areas. The story was shaky at best and the subtitles were terrible. The AI was oblivious and there was really no challenge in defeating the enemies.

While the overall concept is a great idea and the traps were fun I think that the gameplay could have been enhanced simply by improving the AI.

Graphically, Trapt was a pretty solid hitter, the character renderings were sharp, the trap animations smooth and the rooms were attractive.

Overall though I would have to say that I would not buy Trapt unless it was in a bargain bin.
