As a lifelong fan of the Transformers since G1, and especially both of the Cybertron games from High Moon Studios, I couldn't wait for this game to release. Unfortunately, this is not a High Moon game, and it shows. Edge of Reality made all of the missteps that your typical low-budget developer makes when designing and rushing out a movie tie-in game. The gameplay is a carbon copy of that which was employed in the Cybertron games, and that is not a bad thing, as the controls feel nice and familiar, but that is where the good things about the game end.
Sound - The voice acting by the endless waves of enemies is obnoxiously repetitive (they only have one phrase that they speak over and over), and unless you turn on subtitles, you can rarely enjoy the interbot chatter between main characters because the audio unrealistically fizzles out after about 5ft of distance unless you move your bot over to directly face the speaking character.
Graphics - Possibly the worst part about this game. To avoid creating any sense of depth of field and/or background art the designers employed something that I haven't seen used in a production game since Turok on the N64: Fog depth. Nearly every outdoor area is hidden under a dense fog layer so that structures can be populated without the player's notice and so background art can be avoided to save money. Its a very old trick and highly disappointing to see in this day and age, especially on a next-gen system like the Xbox One. The next crime that this game commits are the texture maps used on pretty much everything in the game. Textures are muddy, pixelated, and very poor in quality, thus making this game look like something we would have seen in an early Xbox or PS2 port to the 360 or PS3.
Overall - A failure in nearly every category, even going so far as to delete the popular multi-player modes. I could go on and on, but the review only allows 2,000 characters, so my suggestion: Rent if you're bored and never purch
