The first impression I got from this game is that it has a lot of tracks - I mean a whole lot of them; there are 126 in the Single Player Racing Mode (divided into four sets of 30 tracks and one set of six tracks), 21 in the Puzzle Mode, and another 21 in the Platform Mode.
And with the ability to create your own tracks, the sky’s the limit on how many tracks you can generate with the game.
It’s too bad they lock up most of the material when you get the game.
At the first play, all but 24 tracks in one set are locked (that’s more than 80% of the tracks are locked). And the way to unlock the locked tracks is very complicated.
Each Single Player race consists of five cars. If you finish third, you get a bronze and one point, second, you get a silver and two points, and if you get first, you get a gold medal and get three points. But three points is the max for each race - and that‘s only given if you get the gold medal.
There are also coppers given out for placing first, second or third in each race - more coppers for a higher place finish.
You need the coppers to unlock tracks in the same set as the one you’re playing in - and you need a certain number of points to unlock the next higher set of tracks.
And just like in too many other racers, you can’t play locked tracks multiplayer until you unlock them single player.
Why DO they do this? If they want us to buy the game, they should just give us all the tracks instead of making us jump through hoops for them.
It’s too bad, really. The tracks are short, but fun, and the controls are not the best I’ve played, but they are fine for this type of game. And it has online capabilities.
But all the locked material makes this game more of a chore than fun - too much for me to hand out money for. RENT IT.
I was really dissapiointed by this game. The races take no more than 30 seconds. and even though there are some stunts, it's not like it sounds. The graphics make your head ache, and the tracks are immpossible. The controls stink, and the multiplayer is wacky. There is a track builder, but it makes no sense. You need a while to figure out the game, but the races can be done in under a minute. If you want your money's worth for games, do not rent!!
