I agree the reviewer who wrote "Remember Revolution" this game was just average. The "No load times" was cool but the game was not really different at all from any other Tony Hawk game. The new tricks were kinda cool. Worth a rent not a buy.

American Wasteland brings the Tony Hawk games to a new level. The series had been getting stale with the same old collect S-K-A-T-E, find the secret tape and hit some jump scenario. For once, we got a decent story line that kept the game interesting and moving. You create your character and take him to LA where he desires to become a skate legend. From there, he meets new people and must find many new pieces for a skate park. You spend your time going through the interactive story collecting pieces of your park. It is a great game!!!
no load times!?Open environment?!That's aws- oh...

After all the great advertisements from tony hawk and my T.V., I thought I HAD to play American Wasteland to see what it was like. I Had imagined a huge Los Angeles Map much like the first "True crimes" but more focused on skateboarding instead of Gang warfare... I'm not saying the game isn't fun, because it is... I just hate false advertising. For me, averaged sized Tony Hawk Pro Skater levels divided by Long and annoying hallways does not mean an open environment. On the other hand, It's a fun game. There are lots of new tricks, the Tagging is much more fun and better to work with, and the short french man that teaches Parcour(street running) is AWSOME! The story is also very intriguing and you get to meat lots of of cool and funny characters, and unlike all the other games, Customization is actually fun! Overall, It's a great game, but the disappoint one gets after realizing that it was all a lie, kind of ruins it for a while...
