Tomb Raider is a pretty good game on it's own. But it has no qualities that separate it from some other similar games. The entire time I was playing this game, I was thinking 'This is like the little sister to Nate Drake'. The only part of the game I loved was the bow and arrow action. But that doesn't last very long as there are plenty of guns and plenty of ammo. You even get a silenced rifle that puts the bow out of business when it comes to stealth. Story is pretty good, but most of the characters were a little dry, almost uninteresting. While I would recommend renting it, I don't think it's a game that should be bought. When you complete the campaign, there is nothing really left to do. The multiplayer seems like it's just a bare copy of other games' online multiplayer.

I was a little skeptical to give Tomb Raider a try but boy am I glad I did. Tomb Raider will keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you wondering what will happen to poor Laura Croft next. I would say the only real flaw is that it's to easy, even on the hardest difficulty. Still if you are looking for an action packed, thrill ride then Tomb Raider is for you!
I give Tomb Raider a 9/10 because the story is done wonderfully, challenges are challenging enough that you want to complete them, but not so difficult that they just frustrate you. This open-world type of play allows you to fast travel to different areas of the island and explore where you want, which is much different than previous TR games I've played, and let me feel a little more in control.
My only issue with the game is the QTEs-- never have been a fan of them and in the beginning of the game, there were quite a few to get through. Thankfully, as the game progressed, they became fewer and far between.
