I very much enjoyed this Tomb Raider. The attention to detail, not only in the levels of art and design, but also in game play make this a very well done title.
Collecting relics, journals, and so on, go toward upgrading your skills and weapons are on par with other games like Assassin etc.
This is how Tomb Raider was meant to look and feel, the difference between this creation and to those prior could be compared to the difference between the original Batman movie and the now gritty Dark Knight.
Laura gets down and dirty and bloody. Her character's femininity, in my opinion, is too strong in contrast to the amount of physical punishment she must dish out while enduring the same herself. She takes some falls and beatings that none of us (mortal men) could even survive much less remain conscious.
Laura's character acting is quite good however, and she makes squeaks and moans for everything she does while fighting, climbing, breaking, jumping and so on. She could use much more brawn in here voice at the right times, (i.e. S. Weaver in Aliens.)
The game play is done such to keep you from pulling your hair out while throwing your controller out the window during any point in the game. Eventually, you well get past the challenging level (or boss) in reasonable time. Just pay attention and think about what the designers are wanting Laura to do, not what YOU would do.
You will lose control of Laura so that the cut scenes can set her up in a situation that you would have never put yourself into, so that the game can continue to progress in the intended direction. This can be frustrating as it is at the end where I would have preferred more control on what was happening instead of the game telling me to tap 'X' and squeeze 'TRIGGER", duh I think I can figure that out on my own. Save giving me the hints until I've died trying five times already.
Either way, great story, fun exploration, bloody reality of survival on an island of brain washed people, insanity is eve

I have been playing video games since I was two years old, I never really had a favorite genre or game, I just loved them all. One game I never played was Tomb Raider, now I feel like I left myself out of a great series. Playing through this game you actually feel as if you are Lara Croft! The controls and just the way the game play is sucks you into it and makes you not want to stop playing. I played through it in just a few hours which is the only thing I wasn't happy with about the game, if the story was longer it would receive a 10/10 from me.
