Tomb Raider has always been a pleasing video game. From its inception, to its newest edition in the series, this beloved franchise seemingly never fails to deliver. Some would call it a reboot, but I'd say its more along the lines of a prequel created with higher quality technology than its predecessors. If you're craving a core platform video game, then this one is definitely for you. There is very little to nothing to negatively comment about this game. The developers really hit the nail on the head. From beginning to end, the entire adventure is sheer beauty, concerning the appearance. The graphics are among the best of today's current standards. Never will you find yourself displeased with the visualization of the game. Alongside fine graphical work, the story will keep you tightly engaged with missions, and objectives. On numerous occasions, scenes, and action-packed occurrences, I found myself almost forced to the edge of my seat. The gameplay is absolutely astonishing. The developers must have been extremely intent on ensuring the most realistic experience there is. Lara moves with such realization, it's difficult to believe that it's nothing more than computer effects. I have yet to come across any sort of glitches or malfunctions with the game. It's also difficult to picture anyone finishing this game within a short duration of time. So many items, and hidden upgrades await to be discovered, cloaked within the gigantic, beautiful, island you are eligible to almost completely explore. The player will surely feel occupied for quite some time. Like I said before, this game almost lacks any sort of flaws. I suppose the one minor problem the game possesses, is the lack of variety, concerning your foes. Nearly all of them act in the same manner, and use similar tactic; this however, does not prove to be too problematic, for your opponents still prove to be quite a challenge. The game is an inch away from perfection, and is a must-have title. I highly recommend.
I was a fan of the first tomb raider. It was a platform like no other at the time. With complex puzzles, handstands, and dual pistols the original was a blast. Most of the sequels fell short of the mark for me. So when I heard they were coming out with a completely new version I had to check it out. I loved playing this game. I love the new look and the story was fun and entertaining. The new weapon system was fun though I did miss the dual pistols that don't show up till much later in the game. Over all i think they done an excellent job bringing Lara Croft back for a new adventure and I am looking forward to a sequel!! If you have not played this yet and you was a fan of the original Tomb Raider franchise you will not be disappointed!!
This is the first game I've ever played that cinematically felt like a movie from the beginning to end. By that, I mean the gameplay & cut scenes are virtually indistinguishable. Coming from Square, the company that once released a theatrical movie made by a thousand computers, I'm not surprised this first visual masterpiece is theirs. However, besides great cinema & action, there are some flaws. The story isn't 100%. Also, just like with the recent Hitman title, I don't like Square inserting repetitive, work based challenges into games. Like killing & skinning animals when I play an adventure game, I don't like to feel that I have to do repetitive work.
Overall, this Unreal engine based third person is the best visual action you have ever played. Young Laura is extremely beautiful, while lethal & dangerous at the same time...
