I really enjoyed playing this game. That is up to a point. An in-game glitch happened where I couldn't equip the rope arrow, I even looked it up online to see if I wasn't doing something and even watched video walkthroughs only to find because of this glitch I couldn't progress any further. Oh well, I really was going to buy this game until I found this happening. It is a good game but a little glitchy where you can't progress because of the glitch of not being able to equip rope arrow, this was on an xbox 360 system.
For a Tomb Raider game, I was pleasantly surprised. Lush world, fun gameplay, bloody animations, compelling story, weapon choice. The upgrade system is easy to use and useful. The Instinct feature is a little overplayed, but insanely helpful. This game feels like Batman with killing and gore. I would have gladly played 5 more hours had it lasted that long. Co-Op was a bit boring. Rent, don't buy.
Well after Finally getting my hands on this, I really enjoyed playing this. I enjoyed the story, it was pretty good, but I thought it was pretty predictable once you got not too far into the game, and saw the signs and noticed what was happening, I also couldn't really understand why she didn't do anything to stop another character from doing what he did. There was a twist of course, but it wasn't different enough than what I predicted to make me say, "omg...".
I've played a lot of games, and have to say, what happens to her is brutal, she is one tough girl, she goes through so much pain mentally and physically, and as for the physical part, you feel every part of it, really good immersion, and from this it is interesting to watch her personal growth through the story, but the one thing that I didn't like is how she's just an academic explorer, yet she has no problem w/ killing people.
The adventure aspect is awesome, scaling walls, zipping down lines, and you definitely feel every landing. The island is very well done as well, loved the setting of an island w/ old Japanese buildings, then seeing crashed WW2 ships on a beach. The combat was good and bad, guns I thought were a bit weak, I also found it a bit hard to quickly aim and place a good shot up close, but the dodge made the combat a lot more fun, after a while allowing you to stun/kill enemies after dodging them.
Collecting salvage to upgrade guns as well as earning skill points added a lot to the game. Side mission tombs were also fun, I'm not a big puzzle person but I enjoyed a good amount of them, it was also nice that they weren't overly complicated yet hard enough to make you think for a bit.
Mp was bad, annoying aiming, ok maps, it was just peopl randomly jumping rolling around chaotically, you can set traps but they're pretty useless, unlocks add some incentive to keep playing but you just don't really want to keep coming back.
