I've never played a tomb raider game before, loved the movies(who couldn't with Jolie playing Lara C), but just never had the urge to play the game but I was running low on games to play so when it went on sale I checked the gameplay and being a 3rd person style I decided I'd give it a shot and boy was I pleasantly surprised. The action is super fun, there's a few scares here and there that like that kind of game but finding the camps gives a nice break between missions. Great graphics & the story is interesting, the one negative I have is the adult language throughout with apparently no way to turn it off unfortunately so keep your kids out of the room. Other than that theres plenty of goodies to find and area to roam around in, love the god of war feel climbing walls & such but more of a thinkers game than gow. Can't wait to see how the story unfolds(about 3 hours in tonight).
This is probably one of the most successful reboots a franchise could ever hope for. Crystal Dynamics nailed that delicate balance between compelling story, game play, and characters – and the even more difficult task of creating a well rounded “human” character of Lara Croft that did not revolve around her body. As a male gamer I found myself cheering “you go girl” after fighting off an assailant, or executing a particularly difficult move. She was vulnerable, powerful, and sexy.
