I try to not "Review" games because I feel that they should be experienced by everyone. This is my experience and thoughts playing the game.
I never played any of the previous Tomb Raider games mainly because I was stupid and let what reviewers say get to me. I remember seeing reviews for earlier Tomb Raider games on X-play back on the old TechTV/G4 and they tore those games apart.
I'll admit I was influenced by what they said and I regret it I probably missed a lot of good games based on what people said. So when I heard they were doing a reboot of Tomb Raider I said to myself, when I can rent this I'm definitely going to and boy am I glad I did.
This is one of those rare games where everything is great Controls, Story and Graphics. I have almost nothing bad to say about the game but only a couple did dismay me some of the puzzles were almost impossible for me, admittedly I'm not a intellectual player I prefer to go from point A to point B however I needed some help on some puzzles, regarding some side content puzzles I had to give up totally because I couldn't figure them out.
The other issue I have is when you level up a character like I did with Lara I put in over 10 hours working on her when it was all said and done with I was expecting there to be a New Game Plus mode but there wasn't one. This game screamed for a New Game Plus.
Overall this game is a solid 8.
I can't wait for the sequel they are going to do. My only hope is they add a new game plus mode.
I loved the game from the beginning...and then after playing it for about 4 hours I just got pi$$ed off. I received a new item to be used and thought that it would be good to fast travel back to other base camps (save points) to use this new item on things that it would affect that I did not have an item to use to affect it previously. Well, I fast traveled back to the previous base camp and was unable to do what I wanted to do so I attempted to travel back to the furthest base camp that I just came from...BUT IT WOULDN'T LET ME!!! I then attempted to restart the last checkpoint...but all the buggers that attacked me previously were still dead and, due to specific events that take place (that I thought would reset if I restarted the last checkpoint), I was unable to get to ANYWHERE that would allow me to travel back to the furthest checkpoint in the game.
Idiots designed this game to have a glitch that big. GTH.
