I was not expecting an origin story from T.R. but apparently they did it and it was AWESOME! Loved Front Mission, Loved Tomb Raider, keep it up Lara, and you too Eidos!

Complete reboot from the original Tomb Raiders. Focusing on shooting mechanics and strays from puzzle solving (though there are a few moments in the game that take time to figure out).

The AI isn't bad. Enemies react fairly well though there aren't many parts in the game you will have to replay, which makes moving through the game smooth.

Jumping and climbing are similar to previous Tomb Raiders, only much more polished. The biggest difference is using your kit to get to hard to reach areas on the map, mainly being the bow (zip lines and tow). Switching weapons is very nice and it is easy to use multiple guns smoothly during a fight. Added to combat is dodging with the option to strike after dodges, most of which are brutal strikes and very gory.

The game style itself feels like Splinter Cell and the basic 3rd person shooter combined with Assassins Creed style movement. You have the options to sneak into stealth kill positions or use environment kills throughout the game.

Weapons have multiple modes. The Bow can shoot napalm arrows that ignite enemies, the shotgun can be upgraded to explode rounds on impact etc.

The story is good, 7/10, but Laras transition during the game is stellar, definitely a 10/10.

Many of the cut scenes transition into game play smoothly.

The game is longer than I expected. At one point I thought I had beaten it when it was actually at the half way point. It's addicting and you will feel compelled to see what is next.

I didn't replay it, but there is replay value in the sense of discovering everything, like the Riddler puzzles in the Arkham games.

Not a true open world but far from linear.

This is one of those games everyone needs to play and will appeal to gamers from most genres.

It's apparent that the developers cared greatly about the experience they were creating. The controls are solid and the environments vary nicely and the connection you feel towards Lara is almost on par with characters in
