I never played the original Tomb Raider, so this is more of an actual review than a comparison of the original game.
The bad:
The controls in this game are so incredibly frustrating. I'm not a very violent person or someone who gets angry very easily, yet I found myself swearing at the TV every two seconds because I'd end up falling to my death when I clearly would angle the analog stick to make her jump backwards to a ledge. This was really the only thing that bothered me other than the sometimes obnoxious camera angles. It doesn't seem like a lot, but it was enough to ruin the game for me.
The good:
It's fun. I don't know what else to say. There's just something about it. Maybe it's that level design is great a lot of the time, puzzles are challenging but not completely frustrating. There are plenty of things to unlock and find. The storyline was pretty great too. Even now, I didn't find it very cliche. It wasn't totally captivating, but it was pretty interesting and will definitely keep you interested. What I really love is the Croft Manor. The adventure is fun and the music is beautiful, it really does make up for the more annoying things.
The questionable:
What is up with Lara Croft's body proportions? I really wish they would change them. It's not even attractive. Her chest is way too huge compared to her tiny waist. And coupled with her muscle/fat ratio, it's flat out unappealing. Another thing I wonder is the graphics. I know the game is from 2007, but come on! It's not bad, and it doesn't take away from the game, they're just...questionable.
Overall:
The game's good, because I'm not much of a thinker I had to look up walkthoughs sometimes (this was only when I'd spend about an hour on one area). Just be careful with the controls, and you'll find yourself playing every Tomb Raider game they have on gamefly.
