I had such high hopes for this title. I was a fan of the original series of games from back in the day on the Sega Genesis, but the game just didn't do it for me at all. I understand the "hip hop" update, not a far stretch from "funk" i suppose is not totally unreasonable, but perhaps in an effort of "keepin' it real" or whatever... When it's rated E for Everyone, why were there swear words in the game, and they were completely random almost, they came out of the blue like a "did i really just hear that" kind of vibe. About the only things going for it were the music, provided by the original composer/development crews and the extra character, voiced by ChooChoo Soul's Ginevieve Goings (you know, kids shows on Playhouse Disney) sound effects were fun and quirky as usual, and the 2 player was indeed once again a nifty option when going for coop modes just like the old game was. However the 3d controls and follow cameras were lacking as most ineffective 3d games with follow cameras and paths can go wrong they will. It might be worth a nostalgic trip down updated memory lane and it might just squeeze enough fun out for old time sake, but if you're like me, and you're an old school TJ&E fan and a discerning gamer and parent, the swears could have been left out and the cameras need fixing.
