The idea of playing in the dark has been visited with other games but via 3rd person. Thief is a mix between Mirror's Edge, and Splinter Cell, not achieving the quality of either, but attempting to. Dark scene's are too dark, story is slow to get going and plot seems and feels very linear. In my opinion it is worth the rent, but not a purchase.
Im a huge fan of the stealth genre. I love beating a game without killing or being spotted , Its very satisfying. I played Thief on the hardest difficulty and beat the game without a kill or taking any damage. The stealth and movement works great and you really feel like a master of the dark.
The stealth is awesome and fun the story not so much. I didn't really care for the story or characters, it gets kinda weird and not what i was expecting. But i came for the stealth gameplay and not the story and that part of the game is awesome. Sneaking and running around the rooftops felt great and stalking npcs from the shadows to take them out felt very satisfying. I had so much fun i did a playthrough without kills and a second with more combat and killing.
If you like stealth games you should give this a try , i was surprised how much i enjoyed it.
The graphics are very good and even though there are certain aspects of the game that aren't properly created this doesn't stop the game from being good. But you can only figure it out if you play the game for yourself!!!
