In high school, good-hearted but slightly dorky Ted Stroehmann (Ben Stiller) lands the dream date to his prom, Mary Jensen (Cameron Diaz), the kind of girl any guy would fall for. Ted's dream night takes a harrowing turn, however, when Ted is forced to the hospital after a painful zipper incident. Years later, Ted is still haunted by memories of Mary, the one who got away. At the urging of his friend Dom (Chris Elliot), Ted hires a PI (Matt Dillon) to track down his lost love. Mary's living in Miami, as charming as ever. If he's going to get her back, Ted will have to overcome a variety of other suitors in this hilarious offbeat love story from the Farrelly Brothers.
