Toon Link Prevails

On a handheld device, you wouldn't expect Phantom Hourglass to be as good as a console version like Twilight Princess. The truth is, its just as awesome. Not only does the plot continue to draw me in like some sort of wind tunnel in reverse, but the action that I can put Link into causes my hand to get tired. In the game, Tetra (who is Zelda's other form that I can't stand) gets kidnapped by a mysterious ghost ship. With the help of another new fairy and a "friend" named Linebeck, you set out to find her. You'll end up going into many different temples and all around the map to find Tetra.
There are plenty of puzzles, which is definitely my favorite part of a Zelda game. Both these and the enemies force you to think in a new way strategically. This makes the game that much more challenging and fun. Moving Link around is done entirely by the touch screen, which causes him to roll when you don't need him to, or go in a direction you don't want him to. Graphics are very bright and colorful, nice for a DS game. The music and sound effects are great, but they get a bit repetitive. You'll definitely be able to remember every detail of a song. It's also one of those games with more plot and cutscenes than gameplay.
Overall I was really happy with Phantom Hourglass. If you've never played Zelda before it's a great game to start with. Hardcore Zelda fans however, might not like it that much. I'd give it an 8.5, but I can't use decimals for the rating.
