If you like the zombie-apocalypse-survival genre (e.g. Walking Dead), you will like the story/background in The Last of Us. The game itself falls into the sneak-or-fight genre (e.g. Metal Gear Revengeance). Graphics and storyline are dope. However, the actual gameplay gets a bit redundant after a while and it the game starts to drag on at that point.
I loved TLOU and would recommend it for purchase. However, if you are looking for a game to rent and flip, this isn't it. The last levels few levels of the game are a grind, dragging on without any real excitement.
The ending is good and feels complete, while leaving the door wide open for a sequel. I give this game a 8 for its derivative story and a 7 for gameplay; so a 7.5 overall rating for the game on all categories.
The Last of US was without a doubt in my mind my favorite game. The dialogue was very interesting and very well done. The graphics in this game did not change from cutscene to gameplay, they were always stunning. The Last of Us is one of those games you will want to play more than once. My only minor complaint was that friendly AI weren't too smart nor were they too helpful. The enemy AI were pretty dumb sometimes but these complaints were very minor and once you get into the game you either won't notice this or you will just simply look past it because of how fantastic this game is. Many people encountered bugs in the game but during both of my play throughs i have yet to see any bugs.
