The gameplay is simple if not very repetitive, the AI is pretty dumb. You aren't playing this game for the explosive gameplay for sure. The storyline makes up for any shortcomings this game has, if not for this I would've rated this game about a 5.
If you're up for practically watching a movie while being involved in some action, this is for you.

When I first saw the trailers and advanced sneak peaks for The Last Of Us, I couldn't help but drool and grit my teeth for the wait. Sure it was another game about zombies and surviving but there was something different about it. The fact that it wasn't just another shoot-em-up zombie game was intriguing and along with the fact that the zombies themselves were not typical made the game that much more attractive. Knowing that the game was for the PS3 only got my hopes up for above average graphics and boy did the game deliver. I played a little of the game with just the standard yellow, red and white chords and then tried the game on my flatscreen with the HDMI cable ... wow. The graphics were so detailed and intricate that I nearly teared up from sheer appreciation of the time and effort dedicated to making the characters and background look as if it were real life. At times I found myself not playing the game to just pan the camera around and look at the astonishing detail of things close by and things so far off in the distance that casual players would never give a second glance to. It quit literally left me in awe. The voice acting, music, and sound effects were just as amazing and ground breaking as the visuals in this game. I felt like the characters were talking TO me! And while they were talking to one another or I was simply walking to my destination, I took notice and really digested every little sound because there was so much to hear: the crunch of the snow from footsteps, the numerous birds chirping in the distance, every breath the characters took, and even the lightest breeze that blew. After playing this game I was greatly saddened because of the stature the game had earned. By that I mean that I knew I would never play a game of this caliber for a very, VERY long time to come; and it hurt to know that. The gameplay, visuals, sounds, character development, and story of this game are nothing short of what true art is.
